LOT Network, the international community of the world’s leading high-tech companies committed to protecting its members from costly litigation from patent assertion entities (PAEs, also known as “patent trolls”), recently announced that Baraja, a LiDAR innovator and technology company, has joined its network.

Baraja was founded in 2016 and is on a mission to enable safer autonomous driving through the development of LiDAR technology products for self-driving vehicles.

“We are working with the world’s best automotive companies to make the future of autonomy a reality. As a result, innovation is at the core of Baraja, and any disruptions to our research and development efforts is a significant step backwards,” said Federico Collarte, Founder and CEO of Baraja. “LOT Network is a cost-effective way to protect our business from the upheaval that ensues from PAE litigation. We’re pleased to join a community of leading companies with a similarly proactive mindset — and happy to be building a safer ecosystem for the LiDAR community as a result.”

The revolutionary Baraja Spectrum-Scan™ technology sets a new benchmark in precision and reliability for autonomous mobility to help the world’s leading automotive partners create truly autonomous vehicles.

Spectrum-Scan™ LiDAR completely rethinks the way autonomous cars see the world around them. Unlike legacy LiDAR solutions, Spectrum-Scan™ creates precise images of the world through high-resolution point clouds at 200+ metre range, built to withstand real-world conditions in cars, heavy vehicles and more.

“With this move to join our organization, Baraja is setting an example for all others in their industry that innovation is worth protecting,” said Ken Seddon, CEO of LOT Network. “When a member joins our community, it sends a strong message to their customers that their products are immunized from the threat of PAE litigation. Bajara’s membership shows their business partners how IP savvy they are and that they are proactively addressing the risks and high costs of patent litigation.”

LOT Network members agree that if, and only if, any member’s patent assets fall into the hands of a PAE, the company provides a license to all other network members, thereby immunizing them against PAE litigation from those assets. Members retain all other traditional uses of patents – including selling them, or using them to sue other companies.
