WASHINGTON, DCFinnegan is pleased to announce that registration is now open for its 2023 Finnegan IP University program. The free program introduces undergraduate and graduate STEM students to career opportunities in IP law over four weeks of online educational programming. Students will learn about various types of IP rights, the basics of drafting patent applications, and how to prosecute those applications before the United States Patent and Trademark Office. Students will also have an opportunity to meet and network with IP professionals at Finnegan to gain an understanding of what it means to be an IP attorney, and the various possibilities that a career in IP has to offer. The 2023 program starts on Wednesday, March 1.

Finnegan IP University launched in 2022 with over 80 student participants from across the country. Finnegan partner and Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer (CDIO) Esther Lim notes that when Finnegan attorneys teach at law schools, many encounter students who wished they had known about IP law sooner. Esther said, “We often hear from students who express disappointment that they did not know about the possibility of pursuing a career in IP while they are in college, but that had they known, would have considered obtaining a STEM degree.”

Students who complete Finnegan IP University receive a certificate of completion and badge to add to their resume and LinkedIn profile and access to a personalized one-on-one virtual information session. They are also given priority consideration for career opportunities at Finnegan.

The deadline to register for the 2023 program is February 20, 2023. For more information and to register, click here.
