European IP firm hits £600,000 mark in charitable donations over the course of three years
European IP law firm Mewburn Ellis has pledged a further £210,000 in charitable donations to various organisations over the course of 2022/23, as part of its ongoing CSR programme.
The firm has pledged a total of £50,000 to Diversity and Inclusion charities including Jonathan’s Voice, The Fawcett Society, Prince’s Trust, 93% Club and Social Mobility Foundation which look to tackle mental health, gender equality, and building confidence in young people, among other import causes.
£10,000 has been pledged to animal charities Support Dogs and StreetVet. The former works to improve the independence and quality of life for people with various medical conditions by providing trained specialist assistance dogs. The latter aims to provide support and keep clients and their pets together wherever possible.
Reflecting the firm’s wider sustainability initiatives, a further £19,500 has been pledged to both the Marine Conservation Society and Fareshare to support their efforts in fighting for a cleaner, better-protected ocean and tackling hunger and food waste in the UK respectively.
In the midst of the Ukraine crisis, the firm is also giving £30,000 each to Save the Children, which continues to work on the ground in the country and £30,000 to The Red Cross which is helping both people still in Ukraine and providing aid to those arriving in the UK. This follows a £15,000 donation to The Red Cross earlier in the year.
The firm continues to donate locally with £15,000 being given to a charity of choice per office. The most recent addition to this has been a donation to the art room fund for The Christie Charitable Fund, a Manchester based hospital which provides cancer care, research and education.
Maria Hall, Chief Marketing & Business Development Officer at Mewburn Ellis and responsible for the Community Giving programme, comments:
“CSR is extremely important to us as a business and after recent growth, the continuation of our charitable programme was high on our list of priorities. As with everything we do as a firm, we wanted to ensure that we carried this out properly and in a way that reflects our values and drives meaningful change.
“The key for us is engagement across the board and we are all immensely proud of the dedication and commitment to the programme from our colleagues. We have endless respect and admiration for these organisations and the vital work they do and look forward to seeing the positive impact of these donations.”
