Isobel Barry & Anna Leathley joined the partnership on 1st July 2021

Carpmaels & Ransford is delighted to announce the promotion of Isobel Barry and Anna Leathley to the partnership, effective from 1st July 2021.

Isobel joined the firm as a trainee and has gone on to build a practice advising innovator pharmaceutical companies through all stages of the product lifecycle. Much of her time is spent on contentious matters relating to patents protecting commercially important products, including patents for small molecules, antisense therapeutics, combination therapies and pharmaceutical formulations.

Isobel is also a member of the firm’s CSR committee. She has been actively involved in the UK profession-wide diversity and inclusion initiative IP Inclusive since its foundation, and is a member of the committees for the Women in IP and IP Out communities.

Anna joined the firm in 2013, having started her career at another London based patent firm. Anna’s area of expertise is in biotech. She has a current focus on cell therapy, and carries out European patent prosecution of a large portfolio of patent applications in this rapidly developing and complex field. She also supports a range of clients who operate in diverse technology areas including protein therapeutics, diagnostics and platform technologies, in both patent prosecution and contentious matters.

Anna is an active member of the IPO Women in IP Committee, where she is a co-chair of the Mentoring Across Borders subcommittee. This involves coordinating group and pairs mentoring programs, which brings together participants from across the globe.  She is also involved in recruitment activities at Carpmaels & Ransford.

Hugh Goodfellow, Managing Partner at Carpmaels & Ransford, comments:

“We are very pleased to welcome Isobel and Anna to the partnership. They are highly respected in their fields, both for their technical expertise as well as their contributions to driving diversity and inclusion within the IP industry.”

Carpmaels & Ransford has the largest specialist life sciences IP group on one site in Europe and was recently awarded UK Patent Prosecution Firm of the Year at the 2021 Managing IP Awards.
