Leading European specialist IP firm announces the promotion of Sean Jauss and Katherine Green to equity partnership and the appointment of Camille Terfve, Eleanor Maciver, Dan Thornton and Tom Furnival as new partners.
Intellectual property firm Mewburn Ellis has strengthened its ongoing momentum with several partnership promotions. The news comes after the firm appointed Robert Andrews to the role of Chief Inclusion & Diversity Officer, a new role created by the firm as part of its ongoing Inclusion and Diversity strategy.
Sean Jauss and Katherine Green have been promoted to full members of the partnership whilst Camille Terfve, Eleanor Maciver, Dan Thornton and Tom Furnival are appointed as junior members of the partnership. The promotions will come into effect from 1 April 2022 and are further proof of the firm’s commitment to continued growth.
Sean Jauss joined the firm in 2011 and heads up the firm’s legal and dispute resolution teams. He has over 20 years of experience advising on contentious and non-contentious IP matters, including patents, trademarks, designs, copyright, database rights and trade secrets across a range of industry sectors.
Katherine Green joined Mewburn Ellis in 2006 before becoming a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney in 2010. Katherine specialises in EPO oppositions and appeals, particularly defending patents in complex opposition cases involving very large numbers of opponents. Katherine advises on European prosecution strategies for many important patent families, particularly divisional strategies for opposed patents.
Camille Terfve handles the full range of patent work in the life sciences sector, with a particular focus on bioinformatics/computational biology, precision medicine, medical devices and bioengineering. She joined Mewburn Ellis in 2019 and is experienced in providing advice on IP management to companies of all sizes, as well as Freedom to Operate, patentability, validity and infringement, and due diligence advice.
Eleanor Maciver drafts chemistry patents for UK and international clients and is experienced in the prosecution of global patent portfolios as well as opposition and appeals before the EPO. She joined Mewburn Ellis LLP in 2013, qualifying as a Chartered Patent Attorney and European Patent Attorney in 2017. Eleanor works with a range of local and international clients in the industrial chemistry, pharmaceutical chemistry, biotechnology, agricultural chemistry and nanotechnology sectors in the UK, US and Japan.
Dan Thornton joined the firm in 2013, qualifying as a European Patent Attorney in 2017 and as a Chartered Patent Attorney in 2021. Dan works on all aspects of the patent application process in the mechanical, electronics, and engineering sectors. This includes patent drafting and prosecution. He is also experienced in providing freedom to operate (FTO) opinions and the FTO process.
Tom Furnival joined Mewburn Ellis in 2013. He qualified as a European Patent Attorney in 2017 and a Chartered Patent Attorney in 2018. Tom handles a wide range of patent work, including original drafting, prosecution and opposition, particularly defensive oppositions, in the engineering, electronics, computing and physics fields. He also advises on FTO, infringement issues and registered designs.
