Wiggin and Dana LLP announced today that seasoned litigator Kate Cassidy has joined the firm’s growing New York office as a partner in its Intellectual Property Litigation Practice Group. Cassidy extends the capabilities of the firm’s Life Sciences Practice Group as well as the Antitrust and Technology Disputes Practice Group—which has grown in recent years with the addition of partners Ben Diessel and Nathan Denning.
An experienced trial lawyer, Cassidy focuses her practice on complex technology and IP disputes, including arbitrations and litigations. She has represented a wide range of clients—from startups to Fortune 100 companies—in complex commercial and IP litigation cases across the biotech, software, pharmaceutical, medical device, materials and textiles, telecommunications, financial services, and retail and consumer goods industries.
“Bringing Kate on board further deepens and diversifies our bench of intellectual property attorneys—and we’re excited to have her join our growing New York office,” said Managing Partner Tim Diemand.
Intellectual Property Practice Group Chair Joe Casino added, “Kate’s experience litigating high-profile, high-stakes cases in cutting-edge technology will expand our team’s capabilities—especially in high-growth industries like biotech. Her reputation as a creative litigation strategist precedes her, and I look forward to working alongside her on significant intellectual property disputes.”
“Wiggin and Dana has the technical knowledge, resources, and legal know-how to handle any aspect of intellectual property law—and I’m grateful for the opportunity to join such a well-rounded and skilled team,” said Cassidy.
Prior to joining the firm, Cassidy served as a partner at litigation boutique LTL Attorneys LLP and of counsel at Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan LLP, where she handled IP matters for more than a decade. She earned her LLM at Georgetown University Law Center and her LLB at the University of Adelaide Law School in Adelaide, Australia.
