San Francisco (March 10, 2025) – Venable LLP announced today the addition of two award-winning attorneys to its Intellectual Property (IP) team in San Francisco—Jeannine Yoo Sano and Eric Krause.
“We are excited to welcome Jeannine and Eric to our intellectual property team. Their exceptional expertise and commitment to protecting technology interests will further strengthen our ability to serve clients in an increasingly complex IP landscape,” said Justin Pierce, co-chair of Venable’s Intellectual Property Division. “We look forward to the impact they will make as we continue to deliver top-tier counsel in this dynamic field.”
Sano is a nationally recognized first-chair trial lawyer with over 30 years of experience handling patent and trade secret trials and appeals in technology fields such as mobile communications, video processing, graphics, operating systems, memory, power management, medical devices, and semiconductor manufacturing. Her trial successes in district courts, ITC, and PTAB have been lauded by IAM Patent 1000, Managing IP, The Recorder, the Daily Journal, and Benchmark Litigation, among other organizations and publications. She is a member of the Women Lawyers of the Eastern District of Texas Advisory Committee and has previously served as chair of the Patent Litigation and ITC Practice Committees of the ABA Section of Intellectual Property.
“Venable is that unicorn law firm that provides elite firm capabilities in all four major practice areas (government, IP, complex litigation, and corporate), with boutique firm attention to client needs,” said Sano. “Venable’s ingrained culture of collegiality and transparency is an extra bonus.”
Krause commented, “Venable is an ideal firm for our practice because its platform and deep bench fit the needs of our tech clients who face various additional legal challenges beyond patent disputes such as privacy, copyright, and corporate transactions.”
Krause also leads patent and trade secret cases concerning technology ranging from semiconductor fabrication and design to IoT and cloud computing. Drawing on his experience as a former electrical and computer engineer with extensive experience in BIOS, systems management, and network architecture, Krause develops and presents compelling defenses at trial based on the technology at issue. As a registered patent attorney, he frequently manages the interplay between IPR and litigation proceedings. His record for obtaining defense victories in key patent venues such as the Eastern and Western Districts of Texas, Delaware, ITC, and PTAB has been recognized by IAM Patent 1000.
