Yannick Biron, a highly experienced European and French patent attorney, has been appointed partner at the firm’s Paris office and will be working alongside partner Russell Edson, who relocated from London to Paris in 2019 and is qualified to practise both as a British and French patent attorney. Prior to joining Withers & Rogers, Yannick spent five years at Delegate and his industry experience includes leading patent operations at Safran as well as a number of key roles at Airbus.

As a team, both Yannick and Russell have exceptional expertise in advising businesses of all sizes about how to protect and enforce their IP rights in a variety of industry sectors. Their experience spans high-value manufacturers in the automotive, aerospace and defence industries, thriving SMEs in other advanced engineering industries, as well as fast-growing tech-led companies in diverse fields such as bioscience, robotics and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies.

With a number of French clients already on board, Yannick is looking forward to introducing Withers & Rogers’ strong customer service-led culture and proposition to more businesses that might be seeking IP protection for their innovations in France and around the world. He said:

“In order to compete globally, innovative French businesses need access to professional IP advice from a firm with international reach. Withers & Rogers has the right mix of in-depth industry knowledge and global IP understanding to help clients create well-managed IP portfolios. These assets can be used to defend their market position and open the door to all sorts of commercial opportunities. I am excited to help bring a different offering to the French market.”

Russell Edson added:

“I’m delighted that Yannick has joined our Paris office and am looking forward to working with him to expand the firm’s presence in France. As borders and trade begin to open up again with the easing of restrictions relating to the pandemic, there are real opportunities for innovative businesses to achieve growth and gain market share in their target markets, and professional IP advice is key to protecting that growth for the longer term. By combining our professional expertise with a strong service ethic and a strategic approach to IP, we aim to give French businesses the support they need to grow.”
