Skadden is pleased to announce that Leslie A Demers has been named a partner in the firm’s Intellectual Property Litigation group in New York.
Demers concentrates her practice on complex litigation and arbitration involving patents, trade secrets, and other intellectual property litigation, as well as counseling on IP diligence, licensing, freedom to operate, and protecting intellectual property rights.
She has assisted in matters involving technologies across varied industries, including pharmaceuticals, medical devices, renewable energy, industrial machinery, semiconductors, and information technology. Her representative engagements include securing a complete defense jury verdict for a defendant in a trade secret misappropriation case; asserting and defending patent infringement claims in an ongoing dispute involving cybersecurity competitors; and representing defendants in antitrust proceedings following the settlement of Hatch-Waxman cases.
“Leslie is an attorney of many talents, but she is truly exceptional in the way she responds to a setback,” said Douglas R Nemec, Skadden’s Intellectual Property Litigation head. “Clients and colleagues know they are in good hands because she relishes a challenge and brings such positive energy to problem-solving.”
Demers also devotes considerable time to pro bono matters, including in conjunction with Volunteer Lawyers for the Arts, which provides legal aid to New York artists and inventors. She graduated from Columbia Law School in 2013.
