Shoosmiths has added bench strength to its intellectual property (IP) team with the strategic appointment of new partner, Antony Craggs.
Antony, who joins Shoosmiths’ London office from Lewis Silkin, is a highly experienced intellectual property lawyer, primarily focused on patent, trademark and design litigation. He advises clients across a variety of sectors, including tech, medical devices, chemicals, mechanical products, fast-moving consumer goods and retail, with deep multi-jurisdictional experience.
Previous to his position as a partner at Lewis Silkin, Antony held positions as partner at D. Young & Co. and director at Gowling WLG.
Shoosmiths head of IP, Andrew Brennan, said:
“We’re thrilled to have hired Antony at an important time in the firm’s journey.
Our strategy in the IP team complements the firm’s overall strategy centred around excellence and focus. Our aim in IP is to excel in three core areas: Brands, Life Sciences and Technology.
Antony’s appointment will add significantly to our impressive IP litigation capabilities and provide more ‘bench strength’, as the team continues to secure complex and high value mandates in these focus areas.
It also underscores the firm’s desire and commitment to invest in our specialisms in the relentless pursuit of achieving a market leading reputation across our service lines.”
Antony Craggs said:
“I am very pleased to be joining Shoosmiths. The firm has an excellent reputation for IP, and I am excited to play my part in Shoosmiths realizing this strategy, building on the foundations and reputation that the team has developed for IP litigation across all IP rights.
I am also pleased to have a familiar face in the team in Victoria Bentley, who I worked alongside previously.”
Recent partner hires into Shoosmiths’ wider commercial group include energy and infrastructure partners Chris Pritchett, who previously led the energy practice at Foot Anstey, and Levent Gurdenli, who was a partner at Weightmans.
