Munich-based Jack Whitfield joins the partnership at Withers & Rogers

Withers & Rogers has promoted Jack Whitfield to the partnership as part of the ongoing expansion of the firm’s presence in Europe.

Whitfield joined the firm in 2012 with a Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, starting his career in the firm’s Sheffield office. He qualified as a UK Chartered Patent Attorney in 2016 and as a European Patent Attorney in 2017. Shortly after qualification, he moved to the firm’s Munich office, where he was one of the original members of the team, playing a key role in the office’s growth from inception to its current size of around 20 attorneys and support staff.

From Munich, Whitfield advises international clients on securing and enforcing UK and European patent rights, with a primary focus on the automotive sector. He works closely with global automotive suppliers, including spending around one month each year in Detroit to support clients and develop long-term strategic relationships in the area. In addition, Whitfield leads the firm’s internal packaging sector team, coordinating expertise across the firm. He also plays an active role in driving the adoption of technology‑enabled working practices within the firm, supporting efficient and consistent delivery of patent services for clients.

Whitfield represents clients ranging from multinational corporations to SMEs and individuals, and is a registered representative before the Unified Patent Court, having been among the first UK‑born patent attorneys to register following its launch in 2023.
