Lewis Silkin has today announced the appointment of specialist patent partner Jonathan Hewett to its market leading, full-service IP practice.
With more than 20 years of experience working with a range of clients including start-ups, universities and multinational corporations, Jonathan advises at all stages of the invention lifecycle, from drafting and prosecution of patent applications through to contentious proceedings and managing IP portfolios across multiple jurisdictions.
Jonathan, who joins from IP firm Venner Shipley, is a UK and European qualified patent attorney, specializing in electronics and engineering, with significant experience in satellite technology, telecommunications, image processing, and consumer electronics, along with electromechanical engineering and additive manufacturing.
He is a member of FICPI, and its European Practice working group (CET4), and a member of the CIPA Education Committee.
Jonathan joins Lewis Silkin’s fast growing IP 360 offering, which was recently enhanced by the firm’s acquisition of specialist patent and trademark practice Miller Stuart Kenyon, bringing the total team size to almost 50 legal professionals across its contentious and non-contentious practice.
Jo Farmer, Joint Managing Partner at Lewis Silkin, commented:
“Developing, monetizing, and protecting ideas is increasingly critical to the commercial success of our clients, and we are continuing to evolve and invest in our Intellectual Property offering. We want to provide clients access to the best advice where they need it most in their innovation journeys. Jonathan adds further strength and depth to our IP360 practice, bringing additional senior insight and strategic multijurisdictional patent expertise right across our core markets. We’re very pleased to welcome him to the team.”
Jonathan Hewett, Partner at Lewis Silkin, added:
“I’ve known Lewis Silkin for a long time, with the firm deservedly recognized as an adviser of choice to innovation-driven enterprises, including top household name brands and businesses working at the cutting edge of technology, engineering, and manufacturing. The breadth of services that the firm can provide to harness the power of ideas, and particularly the firm’s investment in and growth of its IP capability, makes for a compelling offering for clients and one that I’m very excited to be a part of.”
