The national law firm of Quarles & Brady LLP announced today that Dawn David, who brings extensive experience leading clients through high-stakes, complex intellectual property (IP) litigation, has joined the firm’s Milwaukee office as a partner in its Intellectual Property Practice Group.
With more than a decade of experience, David handles matters involving patents, trade secrets, trademarks, trade dress, copyrights, and false advertising. She also represents clients in patent infringement actions before the International Trade Commission and in inter partes review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board and counsels on other complex commercial disputes outside of the IP realm.
“We’re thrilled to add someone to our team with Dawn’s level of experience and thoughtful approach to solving challenges for her clients,” said Lori Ruhly, national co-chair of the Intellectual Property Practice Group. “She brings the ideal combination to her litigation practice: While always relentlessly advocating for her clients, Dawn is equally skilled at maintaining productive relationships with opposing counsel and the courts because, ultimately, her focus remains firmly on achieving outcomes that align with her clients’ broader business objectives.”
David advises clients across a wide spectrum of technologies, ranging from medical diagnostics and devices to aerospace components, AI processors, and graphics processing architectures to telecommunications, transportation (including autonomous vehicles), and outdoor equipment to content delivery and security.
A recipient of B.S. and M.S. engineering degrees from the University of South Florida and a J.D. from the University of Illinois Chicago School of Law, David has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America “Ones to Watch” (Intellectual Property) in 2024 and 2025, as well as Super Lawyers “Rising Stars” (Litigation – Intellectual Property) in 2022 and 2023.
“Upon returning to the Midwest, where I’m from, I was immediately drawn to Quarles because of its strong national platform and deep bench of IP talent,” said David. “Not only has Quarles been named one of the most feared law firms in litigation, but the firm’s commitment to client service, innovation, and collaborative culture aligns perfectly with my own values. I’m excited to contribute to the continued growth and success of this amazing team.”
