Bowmans Tanzania Limited was established in January 2017 with an experienced team of lawyers.  The firm has already grown to be awarded ‘Tanzanian Law Firm of the Year 2020’ by IFLR1000, be top ranked by Chambers Global for General Business Law and has two of the top-5 ranked lawyers in Tanzania according to Legal 500.

Our Trade Mark practice is composed of a small but a highly experienced team headed by Audax Kameja, a Senior Partner, and an Advocate of the High Court of Tanzania who has an experience of 35+ years.  His main area of practice is commercial litigation, including IP litigation.

Francis Kamuzora, a Senior associate, and an Advocate of the High court of Tanzania.  He is the contact person for the day to day operation of the practice with experience of 15+ years.  His main roles are IP Litigation, portfolio management, and Trade Mark prosecution work.

Evarist Kameja and Melinda Emmanual, both are Associates and Advocates of the High Court of Tanzania with experience of over 5 years.  Their main roles are mainly litigation and Trade Mark prosecution work.

The team is supported by one Paralegal, and a Secretary.

Our main strength is the vast knowledge and experience which we possess in the area of IP Law.  The many years of  practice have given us a better understand of how to serve our client, being able to advise not only on the law but on practical approaches that provides solutions to problems in an efficient and cost effective manner.

Our experience has given us a unique relationship with the IP Registry Officials with whom we are engaged on a variety of matters on daily basis and our clients can benefit from this valuable relationship which we have.

Tanzania being a member of ARIPO and a signatory to the Banjul Protocol on Marks, we provide services at ARIPO level and our clients can benefit by being able to do international filings with designation of multiple countries, which is cost effective.
