Blank Rome LLP is pleased to announce that Sean D Damon has joined the firm’s Washington, D.C., office in the Intellectual Property Litigation group, which welcomed partner Andrew R Kopsidas and associate Eda Stark earlier this year. Damon joins Blank Rome from Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP.

Damon concentrates his practice on intellectual property litigation, representing clients in all aspects of offensive and defensive litigation matters. He focuses on high-stakes, high-technology patent litigation, such as computer hardware/architecture, software, communication networks, signal processing, and content management systems.

Damon’s litigation experience encompasses multiple stages of the litigation process, including management of complex document review, preparing trial examination and cross-examination, and drafting pre-trial motions and pre- and post-trial briefs. He has appeared before US district courts, the Court of Federal Claims, the US International Trade Commission, and the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, as well as the Patent Trial and Appeal Board (PTAB) of the US Patent and Trademark Office. His PTAB experience includes representing both petitioners and patent owners.

Admitted to practice in the District of Columbia and Maryland, Damon received his JD from the University of Maryland School of Law and his BS from North Carolina State University at Raleigh. Before working as an attorney, Damon served as a system architect at a leading defense contracting company. His work involved designing and developing system architectures, primarily focusing on signal processing and sensing technology, and helped develop the company’s open-source software policy.
