Bird & Bird appoints expert tech patent litigator as new partner in London

International law firm Bird & Bird has appointed experienced tech patent litigator Huw Edwards as a partner in its London Intellectual Property team.

Edwards brings more than 20 years’ experience in patent litigation, having started his career in private practice (including at Bird & Bird in the UK) before working in-house at leading companies. 

Most recently, Edwards led litigation operations at Nokia, where he spent a decade managing major patent litigation campaigns. He has managed high-profile disputes involving some of the world’s largest technology companies.

Drawing on his experience in both private practice and industry, Edwards advises on all aspects of complex patent disputes, including developing global patent assertion strategies and coordinating multi-jurisdictional litigation campaigns. He has worked across multiple jurisdictions, including Australia, France, Finland, Germany, India, Japan, Singapore, the Unified Patent Court (UPC), the UK, and the US.

Edwards is recognized in the IAM Strategy 300 for his expertise across the electronics, engineering and construction, pharmaceuticals and life sciences, and telecommunications sectors.
