Haseltine Lake Kempner is pleased to announce that Dr Lauris Kemp has joined the firm as a partner in its Chemistry and Life Sciences team in Glasgow.

As an experienced UK and European patent attorney and previously recognized as a Rising Star by Managing IP, Kemp holds a degree in Immunology and Biochemistry and followed this with a PhD and post-doctoral position in computational biology.

With a strong background in biology, mathematics, and computer technologies, Kemp’s focus will be on assisting Haseltine Lake Kempner’s global client base protect and commercialize their bioinformatics assets with applications in diverse fields such as genomics, proteomics, drug discovery, personalized medicine, food technology, immunobiology, and microbiome research. Kemp’s expertise also serves to bolster our existing experienced team of AI experts as the use of AI in life sciences burgeons. Kemp has significant experience in these areas, including drafting and prosecuting, as well as an enviable record at EPO opposition and specialist knowledge of trade secret protection.

Kemp said: “I am delighted to join HLK. They are renowned for their expert pharma, AI, and opposition teams, which is a perfect fit for my bioinformatics practice. I am very much looking forward to servicing clients in the digital health space from this wider specialist team.”
