HGF is pleased to announce the appointment of Garreth Duncan, who will be joining the firm as a Partner on 1 April 2026. Duncan joins our Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Group within HGF, and his appointment further supports our ambitious growth strategy across the UK and Europe.

Duncan has considerable expertise across a range of chemical technologies, including pharmaceuticals, food chemistry, agricultural chemistry, petrochemicals, polymer chemistry, and chemical processes.

A particular focus of Duncan’s expertise and practice is the pharmaceutical sector, and he specializes in protecting new chemical entities, salts, polymorphs, formulations (including advanced drug delivery technologies), manufacturing processes, combination therapies, dosage regimes, and medical uses. Duncan also has extensive experience with Supplementary Protection Certificates (European patent term extensions), and his arrival further strengthens our offering in this specialist area of practice.

Duncan commented: “I am delighted to be joining HGF. It is an exciting time to become part of a rapidly growing firm with such a strong offering across so many technical fields and countries. I am particularly looking forward to joining HGF’s Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Group and to working with our clients in this sector to maximize the value and impact of their IP.”

Dr Andrew Wells, Head of HGF’s Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Group, added: “We are delighted to welcome Garreth to HGF and to our Chemistry and Pharmaceutical Group. His background, experience, and expertise fit perfectly into our team and will further enhance our ability to service clients in the chemistry and pharmaceutical sectors.”
