Mewburn Ellis has reconfirmed its status as one of Europe’s leading specialist IP firms with the double announcement that the firm’s partnership is to expand in the UK, at the same time as the firm’s Munich office moves into larger premises to accommodate further growth.

Mewburn Ellis opened its Munich office in November 2017, offering the full range of range of patent, trademark and design services, including drafting, prosecution, oppositions, litigation, IP strategy consulting and portfolio management.

The Munich team is led by experienced Partner Tanis Keirstead, a German national previously based in the firm’s Cambridge office. Tanis was soon joined in Munich by Christoph Moeller from Schindler Group, where he was Vice President and Head of Patents. The office has undergone further rapid growth, including the recent lateral hire of new Mewburn Ellis Partner Dydra Donath from Winter, Brandl, Fürniss, Kaiser, Polte in January 2018.

With further hires pending, the Munich office is now moving into larger premises on Theresienstraße in the Maxvorstadt area of the city at the start of May 2018.

Munich Partner Christoph Moeller commented:

“As a leading European IP Law Firm, Mewburn Ellis has ambitious plans for growth, not only in Germany but across our entire European and global portfolio of clients. This office move, necessary in our first year of being on the ground in Munich, represents us starting to deliver against that ambition. Our new premises will enable us to further grow our rapidly expanding patent and trade mark practices.”

In a simultaneous announcement, Mewburn Ellis has also announced that Paul Dunne, a patent attorney in the firm’s Bristol office, has joined the firm’s now 41-strong partnership. Experienced in handling patent work in Mewburn Ellis’ chemistry & materials team, Paul has particular expertise in the industrial chemistry, nanotech and pharmaceutical sectors.

Patrick Stoner, Partner in the Mewburn Ellis Bristol office commented:

“Paul has become an invaluable member of the Mewburn Ellis team since joining us in 2010 and we are delighted to have him now in a partnership position. The firm is in an important period of growth. The partnership is expanding, we have new Munich premises and later in 2018 we will move to new, larger offices in Bristol and Cambridge. It’s an exciting time”.
