Miguel Angel Margáin Gonzalez takes office as the new Director General of IMPI

The Minister of Economy, Ildefonso Guajardo Villarreal, on instructions from the President, Enrique Peña Nieto, appointed [gave possession to] Miguel Angel Margáin Gonzalez as the new Director General of the Mexican Institute of Industrial Property (IMPI).

Miguel Angel Margáin is licensed by the Faculty of Law of the Universidad Panamericana (UP), studied Master of Law at the University of Cambridge being British Council Scholar.
He has over 20 years of experience in intellectual property, has been professor of Intellectual Property Law at the Universidad Panamericana and Mayab University and the Autonomous Technological Institute of Mexico.

During his tenure with the private sector, he has been a member of various associations related to Intellectual Property, including the Mexican Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AMPPI) of which he was president, the Mexican Bar Association; the International Trademark Association (INTA is the English acronym), the Interamerican Association of Intellectual Property (ASIPI), the European Communities Trademark Association (ECTA), the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI), plus vice president and spokesman of the Committee of Intellectual Property Rights of the American Chamber of Commerce of Mexico (AmCham, is the English acronym).

During the ceremony, which took place at the Ministry of Economy, Ildefonso Guajardo thanked Dr. José Rodrigo Roque Díaz for his work during his tenure as head of the Institute.
