Major European patent and trademark attorney firm, Haseltine Lake, confirms the promotions of Michael Conway and Chris Morris to Partners, and Andrew Sunderland to Senior Associate, effective 1 May 2018, as the firm celebrates 40 years of business in Europe this year.

Michael Conway joined the firm in 2006 and qualified as a trademark and design attorney four years later. His experience spans a wide range of UK, European and overseas trademark matters, including clearance searching, contentious proceedings and arguing the case for registrability of trademarks. Michael also leads the firm’s Designs Group and regularly advises clients on registered and unregistered design matters.

Returning to Haseltine Lake last year, Chris Morris started his intellectual property (IP) career with the firm in 2002 and qualified as a UK and European Trade Mark Attorney in 2009. Focusing his career on the wider IP market, Chris has particular experience in overcoming inherent registrability objections and has devised overall IP strategies for large businesses, along with worldwide brand protection and enforcement tactics.

Andrew Sunderland, a UK and European Patent Attorney, specializing in the Electronics and Communications sector, is also being promoted this month, to Senior Associate. Having joined the firm in 2011, Andrew qualified as a Patent Attorney in 2015 and is experienced in all areas of drafting and prosecuting patent applications, focussing mainly on the European and UK jurisdictions, with additional experience in other countries, such as the US.

These promotions highlight the development and growth of the firm, especially as the organization celebrates 40 years of operating in central Europe. Its German office, based in the European IP capital – Munich, opened its doors in 1978, and represents household brands from around the globe.

Chief Executive of Haseltine Lake, Lesley Evans, adds, “Haseltine Lake is rapidly growing, and these promotions highlight the dedication, commitment and expertise Michael, Chris and Andrew bring to the Haseltine Lake team and to our clients. Their new positions come at an exciting time for the firm, as we celebrate 40 years of operating in Europe and we continue to expand our global business.”
