Ericsson recently announced that it entered into a license agreement with Intellectual Ventures, putting an end to all patent infringement lawsuits between the two companies. The agreement includes a lawsuit which ended up in $43 million jury verdict for the patent licensing company.
Since 2012, the Swedish telecom equipment provider has had many patent infringement lawsuits levelled at it by Intellectual Ventures, lodging a number in the United States and Europe asking for injunctions and monetary compensations. The terms of this deal remained undisclosed.
Ericsson have the industry’s strongest intellectual property portfolios, which includes more than 49,000 granted patents globally. Ericsson is investing in its competitive 5G-ready portfolio to enable seamless migration to 5G technology.
